Short version: this is a food and wine site. Read it, cook from it, enjoy it. Some links earn us a commission and none of them change what you pay. Nothing here is professional advice, and what happens in your kitchen is yours. The honest detail follows.
Who we are
MackFoodie is published by EMACKMEDIA LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. On this page, “we”, “us” and “MackFoodie” mean EMACKMEDIA LLC, and “you” means the person reading.
Using mackfoodie.com means you accept what is on this page. If you do not accept it, the honest answer is to stop using the site.
What this site is
MackFoodie is editorial. We write about ingredients, how to buy them, how to cook them and what to pour alongside. It is one cook’s point of view, informed by experience and research, published for general interest.
It is not professional advice. Not medical, not nutritional, not dietary, not legal, not financial. If you have an allergy, a health condition, or a question about whether a food is safe for you, ask a doctor or a registered dietitian, not a website.
Cooking, food safety and foraging
This is the part that matters most, so it is in plain words.
Cooking involves heat, sharp knives, hot fat and raw animal products. Your kitchen is your responsibility. Handle food safely, use a thermometer, and cook to the temperatures your own food safety authority recommends. Where we name a temperature or a time, treat it as guidance for a well handled ingredient, not a guarantee.
Raw and lightly cooked shellfish, eggs, fish and meat carry real risk, and more of it if you are pregnant, elderly, very young or immunocompromised. That call is yours to make, and worth asking a doctor about if you are unsure.
Foraging is on you. We write about wild mushrooms and other foraged foods because they are worth knowing about. Never eat anything you gathered yourself unless an expert has identified it in person. Photographs and descriptions, ours included, are not identification. Some lookalikes will kill you.
We do not list allergens. Check every ingredient yourself.
Alcohol
Some pages recommend wine, beer or spirits. You must be of legal drinking age where you live to buy or drink alcohol. Nothing here is encouragement to drink, and please enjoy responsibly. Age checks and shipping rules belong to the retailer, not to us, and wine shipping is regulated state by state.

We are not the seller. Every purchase is between you and the retailer, under their terms, their prices, their shipping and their returns policy. If something turns up broken, they are the ones who can fix it. We cannot process an order, a refund or a return, and we are not responsible for what a retailer does.
The Seasonal Guide
The Seasonal Guide is a free email, four times a year. Signing up is optional, there is an unsubscribe link in every issue, and what we do with your address is set out in the Privacy Policy. We may change it, pause it or retire it.
Using the site
Use it like a normal person and we will never have a problem. Specifically, please do not:
- scrape, crawl or bulk download the site, or use it to train a machine learning model, without written permission
- copy our writing or images and republish them as your own
- try to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site
- use anything here to mislead people about what is safe to eat or drink
We can block access if any of that happens.
What we own
The writing, the poster cards, the illustrations and the layout are ours, or used with permission. You are welcome to link to any page, quote a sentence or two with credit, or print a page for your own kitchen. Republishing a whole piece, using our cards commercially, or passing the work off as your own needs written permission first. Ask us. The answer is often yes.
MackFoodie and eMackMedia are our brand names. Any other brand mentioned belongs to its owner and we claim nothing.
Other people’s sites
We link out constantly, to retailers, producers, growers and reference sources. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for them, their content, their products or their privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.
No warranty
We work to get this right and we fix things when we find them wrong. Even so, the site is provided as is. We do not promise it is complete, current, uninterrupted or free of errors, and we do not promise any particular result in your kitchen. Prices, availability and seasons change, and what was true when we published may not be true today.
Limits
To the fullest extent the law allows, EMACKMEDIA LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this site, from anything you cooked after reading it, or from anything you bought through a link on it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred US dollars. Some places do not allow limits like these, in which case they apply to you only as far as your law permits.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
If this changes
We can update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes, and if the change is significant we will say so on the site. Continuing to use MackFoodie after a change means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and both you and we agree to their jurisdiction.
